Vocational Training Center

The VTC works on poverty reduction by empowering Palestinian youth to earn income, through the application of advanced vocational skills and enhanced life skills. 

Funded by DCA/NCA, this project is a continuation of the previously supported project of Permaculture in EJ-YMCA VTC implemented since 2017, it targets women, youth and children in the following priority areas: 

  • Enhancing the rights and status of women by improving women’s economic opportunities. 
  • Utilization of new technologies and innovation to create jobs and improve well-being of the youth.
  • Targeting paths to sustainable food production and the utilization of natural resources for youth to generate income and food security.

The Project objectives:

  • Economic Empowerment: Improved economic status of poor and marginalized communities, and improved livelihood opportunities for Palestinian communities and individuals.
  • Immediate objective: the VTC is well-developed to promote sustainable agriculture, generate innovative employment among youth and integrate up-to-date solutions in vocational training

Key results: Over the past 5 years, the project achieved the following immediate results: 

  • Over 200 graduates of sustainable agriculture, Permaculture Design Certificate “PDC”, and soap production courses with enhanced employability as trainers, business owners or employees.
  • Environmental awareness in schools and the community through the ongoing outreach activities.
