Brief Description:

The project aims to improve the institutional, social and physical/environmental aspects influencing Palestinian Persons with disabilities’ (PwDs) enjoyment of rights and access to public services on an equal basis with others. The project addresses the rights of young persons with disabilities (YPWDs), as well as their socio-economic marginalization with a special focus on young women with disabilities (YWWD) living in the West Bank. It aims to empower Palestinian YPWDs and enhance their inclusion in their communities.

The project used a twin track rights based approach in addressing the disability issue, by implementing advocacy initiatives, and enhancing their accessibility service provision. It corresponds with UN SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; and SDG 5: Gender. It also corresponds with article No.  28.2 in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), that articulates the recognition of the right of persons with disabilities to social protection, as well as article 28.2.b that stresses on: ensured access to social protection and poverty reduction programs.
